Daily Jumble helper

Solve individual anagrams and check the circled letters in a possible final pun.

Your puzzle

One line: scrambled letters | circled positions | chosen answer (optional). Example: TAC | 1 3 | CAT. Count positions from 1.

Enter up to five word lengths, separated by spaces. The search tests letter combinations, not the joke.

The exact letters are checked even if a phrase or proper name is absent from the dictionary.

Dictionary and candidate scope

The local dictionary is independent of the publisher's accepted list. Names, phrases and short words may need a list you enter.

Used only when Words I enter is selected. Separate 1–48-letter words with spaces or new lines; up to 2,000 words.

The example illustrates the helper; it is not a publisher's daily puzzle.

How the Daily Jumble helper works

Keep ambiguous anagrams separate, extract the correct positions from each selected answer and test proposed final phrases against the resulting letter pool.

Results use the puzzle you enter; they are not verified daily answers. Your entries stay out of public URLs.

Choose the solved word before extracting letters

TAC can make ACT or CAT. Circling positions 1 and 2 gives AC from ACT, but CA from CAT. Some positions can change the available letters entirely, so the helper preserves all compatible pools until you choose an answer.

Check the punchline in two stages

A phrase can use every circled letter and still miss the joke. First check the letter counts and word lengths. Then identify the cartoon’s literal situation and the phrase’s second meaning; that interpretation cannot be recovered from letters alone.
