How do repeated letters work?

Copy every tile exactly. A gray copy can appear beside a yellow or green copy of the same letter when the answer contains that letter fewer times than your guess.

Does the solver know today's Wordle answer?

It uses only the feedback you enter and does not reveal today's answer.

Why is one guess ranked above another?

The default looks ahead across future guesses and, in endgames, checks every accepted word against the answers you actually have left. Other settings can favor information or the smallest average group of words left. See how the rankings work.

What does our daily grid on X mean by "the mathematically optimal strategy"?

The grid that @FiveLetterBot shares each day replays a fixed strategy from Alex Selby's exhaustive search, proven to take the fewest guesses on average (3.5526) across the New York Times answer list of July 2023. Optimal means the best average over that list, not that no other line could finish a particular day sooner.
