Use a finding responsibly

1. Link to the specific article, chart, or immutable release page—not only the homepage.
2. State the data cutoff, captured pool, and measure named beside the finding.
3. Describe solver pressure as a model comparison within the recorded archive, not global human difficulty.
4. Describe Observatory results as thresholded, opt-in and self-selected, not representative of all players.
5. Keep answer appearances separate from distinct answer words when discussing repeats.

For repeat coverage, use the living Wordle repeat tracker. It separates distinct reused words from repeat appearances, shows the complete worldwide-finished evidence table in controlled HTML, and provides answer-word-free aggregate CSV, JSON, SVG and PNG assets.

Current specialist sources include the What makes a Wordle hard? solver study and the Echoes pronunciation-graph release. Both provide a claim-led figure, public methods, checksums, reuse terms and a copyable citation.

Citation and licensing

Each immutable release page supplies its own citation, visible caveats, manifest, file checksums, methods, and provenance. Derived statistics and release documentation are available under CC BY 4.0. A preserved upstream answer-pool snapshot, where supplied, is explicitly excluded from that grant and retains its source terms.

The licensed derived files and citations are also preserved in the public FiveLetterWords research repository.

Downloadable brand assets

Please do not alter the name, imply NYT affiliation, or place a required keyword-rich link inside an embed. A normal editorial credit to FiveLetterWords and the specific source page is sufficient.

Verification and corrections

Published release files are immutable, so a corrected dataset receives a new release ID rather than silently replacing cited bytes. Editorial pages may be corrected in place with their visible data cutoff kept separate from their editorial update date.

Correction ledger: no material corrections have been recorded for the public research releases or milestone assets as of 30 August 2026. A future correction will list its date, affected URL or release, original issue, and resolution here.
