How the Missing Letter helper works
- Each clue answer has a different starting letter.
- One alphabet letter is unused at the end of the puzzle.
- Collect the missing letters from the weekday puzzles to form the weekly Mystery Word.
Audit the starting letters of your answers, spot accidental repeated initials and narrow the unused alphabet. Then combine the letters you collected for the weekly word.
Results use the puzzle you enter; they are not verified daily answers. Your entries stay out of public URLs.
An incomplete puzzle has several possibilities
If your entered answers begin with A, C and D, the tool correctly leaves 23 unused letters. It cannot label one as the daily missing letter until 25 distinct initials are accounted for.
Separate the daily and weekly steps
The daily deduction is a set difference over A–Z. The weekly puzzle rearranges the letters collected from several days. A repeated weekly letter must appear the same number of times in the candidate word.
