TimeGuessr helper

Reconcile photo-date evidence and compare candidate map pins.

This worksheet organizes facts you already know. It cannot identify a photograph or supply today's answer.

Your puzzle

One per line: observation | earliest year | latest year | evidence URL (optional). Enter facts you can justify from the photograph.

Optional, one per line: label | latitude | longitude. Distances compare your pins; they do not identify the image.

The example illustrates the helper; it is not a publisher's daily puzzle.

How the TimeGuessr helper works

Reconcile photo-date evidence and compare candidate map pins. Results show their reference coverage and evidence links.

Results use the puzzle you enter; they are not verified daily answers. Your entries stay out of public URLs.

Intersect observations rather than averaging guesses

Suppose one observation supports 1950–1980 and another supports 1970–2000. Their shared interval is 1970–1980; averaging the endpoints would throw away the actual constraints. If the intervals do not overlap, revisit the observation, its date source or the assumption that the pictured object was new.

Separate where from when

Use candidate pins to compare the geographic distance between two plausible places. That calculation cannot establish which place appears in the photograph. Date intervals likewise depend on your supplied evidence; an old building or vehicle may still exist long after its introduction.
