WhenTaken helper

Reconcile photo-date evidence and compare candidate map pins.

This worksheet organizes facts you already know. It cannot identify a photograph or supply today's answer.

Your puzzle

One per line: observation | earliest year | latest year | evidence URL (optional). Enter facts you can justify from the photograph.

Optional, one per line: label | latitude | longitude. Distances compare your pins; they do not identify the image.

The example illustrates the helper; it is not a publisher's daily puzzle.

How the WhenTaken helper works

Reconcile photo-date evidence and compare candidate map pins. Results show their reference coverage and evidence links.

Results use the puzzle you enter; they are not verified daily answers. Your entries stay out of public URLs.

Use bounds that match the observation

An object’s first production year can provide an earliest possible date, but its last production year rarely proves the photo was taken earlier. When entering a date interval, explain why both bounds apply to this image. The helper exposes contradictions without silently choosing one observation over another.

Check location candidates explicitly

Enter a latitude and longitude for each candidate place to compare their separation and direction. A city name is only your label; the coordinates determine the calculation. No photo is uploaded, and the result does not authenticate a location or a historical event.
