How Best Move works

A few guesses are already on the board and only a small set of answers remains. Read the coloured clues, then tap the move you would make. Sometimes a probe is better than a possible answer because it separates the remaining words.

Once you choose, each option shows how many answers it would leave. The result compares your move with the solver's top-ranked move using the same real candidate set shown on the card.

Everyone starts at a rating of 1000, and the positions themselves are rated between about 900 and 1550. Beating a harder position moves your rating further.

Difficulty levels

• Easy. Choose the top-ranked second guess from four options.
• Medium. Compare how much each guess narrows the field.
• Hard. Choose the top-ranked legal hard-mode option.
• Expert. Minimize the largest remaining group, not the average.
• Blitz ⚡. 5 positions back to back, one run, one score.

Your rating

Each solve nudges the rating stored in your browser up or down. Harder positions are worth more; missed easier positions cost more. Correct Daily solves are also counted in the streak stored on this device.
