From Middle English storen, *sturien, from Old English *storian, variant of styrian (“to stir, move”), from Proto-Germanic *sturōną (“to turn, disturb”), from Proto-Indo-European *(s)twer-, *(s)tur- (“to rotate, twirl, swirl, move”).
