Name the exact contiguous or ordered sequence and position for every member.
How to test the relationship
Underline the proposed contiguous letters in every entry. Do not skip, rearrange or reverse letters unless the category explicitly requests it. Count positions from one and check whether an apparent match crosses a word boundary.
Worked original example 1
The exact contiguous sequence CAT appears in EDUCATE: positions 4–6; VACATION: positions 3–5; SCATTER: positions 2–4. Positions are counted from one; the letters stay in their original order.
Worked original example 2
The exact contiguous sequence RAT appears in LIBERATE: positions 5–7; SEPARATE: positions 5–7; STRATEGY: positions 3–5. Positions are counted from one; the letters stay in their original order.

When a tempting match falls short
ACT does not contain the contiguous sequence CAT. Reordering letters would use a different mechanism.
